After we receive your Entry Form and payment, you will receive a Race Pack with your Race Number. Make sure you bring your Race Number to the Event. Don’t leave it at home!

McDonald’s Youth Duathlon

South Hagley Park, Christchurch.

THE EVENT

The McDonald’s Youth Duathlon is organised by the Garden City Rotary Christchurch, to promote the development of healthy young people. Funds raised support youth projects throughout the community.

This run and cycle event is held at South Hagley Park from beside the Netball Centre, for individuals aged 7 to 15 years, with the emphasis more on participation than competition.

Entry Fee $15.

DISTANCES

7 to 10 year olds:

Run 1km – Cycle 4km – Run 500m

11 to 15 year olds:

Run 2km – Cycle 8km – Run 1km

CERTIFICATES, GIFT PACKS & PRIZES

Each registered entrant who takes part on the day receives a Certificate of Completion together with a Gift Pack of sponsors’ products and a competition T-shirt.

In the spirit of participation, prizes are not provided for placegetters, but Spot Prizes are drawn for selected products including 2 Avanti mountain bikes and helmets.

EQUIPMENT CHECK

Before the event, makes sure that your cycle is in a roadworthy and safe condition. It is recommended that you have your cycle and helmet checked at your local cycle shop.

As one of the event sponsors Fleet Cycles, 359 Lincoln Road Ph. 338 9155 will do this for free.

PARKING

No vehicles are allowed on the course. Further information will be provided in your Entry Confirmation.

RACE DAY TIMETABLE

Late entries open 7.15am
Transition area opens 7.30am
Late entries close 8.15am
Transition area closes 8.30am
Race briefing 8.40am
Race starts 9.00am

First to start are 7 yr olds, followed by other age groups at approx 5 min intervals.

Race finish

Spot prizes are awarded as competitors finish and can be collected from the Information Tent.

Gift Packs and Race Certificates can be collected from the McDonald’s Tent on presentation of your race number.

A draw is done from these numbers to see who wins the Avanti Mountain Bikes and Helmets. Avanti Bike winners are published in the Christchurch Press, the following Saturday.

CANCELLATION

If cancellation is necessary this will be advised on Newstalk ZB from 7am Race Day.
