McDonald’s Youth Duathlon

THE EVENT
The McDonald’s Youth Duathlon is organised by Garden City Rotary Club Christchurch, to promote the development of healthy young people. Funds raised support youth projects throughout the community.
This run and cycle event is held at South Hagley Park from beside the Netball Centre, for individuals aged 7 to 15 years, with the emphasis more on participation than competition.
Online entries open Feb 10th 2025
Entries Limited to 1000 participants
Entries close March 28th 2025. No late entries can be accepted on the day of the event
No refunds will be made for this event
DISTANCES
7 to 10 year olds:
Run 1km – Cycle 4km – Run 500m
11 to 15 year olds:
Run 2km – Cycle 4km – Run 1km
CERTIFICATES, MEDALS, GIFT PACKS & PRIZES
Each registered entrant who takes part on the day receives a Certificate of Completion together with a Competition Medal, Gift Pack of sponsors’ products and a competition T-shirt.
In the spirit of participation, prizes are not provided for placegetters, but Lucky Draw winners are drawn for 2 mountain bikes and helmets.
PARKING
No vehicles are allowed on the course. Further information will be provided in your Entry Confirmation.
Cancellation
If cancellation is necessary this will be advised on Newstalk ZB from 7am Race Day.
RACE DAY TIMETABLE
Transition area opens | 7.30am |
Transition area closes | 8.30am |
Race briefing | 8.40am |
Race starts | 9.00am |
First to start are 7 year-old, followed by other age groups at approx 5 min intervals.
RACE FINISH
Gift Packs, Race Certificates can be collected from the McDonald’s Tent on presentation of your race Age Colour. Medals will be presented as competitors cross the finish line.
A draw is done following the event to see who wins the Mountain Bikes and Helmets. Mountain Bike winners are published in an email to all entrants after the event & on this website..
